Gold Lamè (That's Le-Mayy) first in the Gold Lamè Series

C. Pic Michel

Place an unsuspecting woman in a coma wearing a pair of gold lamè shoes she wouldn't be caught dead in, and you'll understand the motivation that propels Amelia Bradford to figure out what put her at the crossroads of life and death. Trapped in the Limbo-like Wait Zone with amnesia on her mind, and struggling to comprehend her unpredictable surroundings, Amelia is given a host of clues from one helpful character after another, while she is chased down by more than a few villains. As a shape-shifting elephant and lady guru teach Amelia how to dream with intention, she develops a deep appreciation for the creative ways abused and neglected kids manage to survive, the complexities of traveling through inter-dimensional reality, the trust required to form alliances with seeming strangers, and yes, the importance of caring for a pet snail. To get her life back, Amelia must wrangle with her stubborn denial to learn some heartwarming lessons, and solve the mystery of the gold lamè shoes.

Enlightenmeant Cartoons:  Now What?

By Pic Michel

Not your average funny pages...

To the traditional esoteric systems for self-exploration including numerology, astrology, the tarot, and psychiatry, Enlightenmeant Cartoons: Now What? adds the way a line drawing and a few words can humorously entertain us while saying so much about how we tick.

Writer and illustrator Pic Michel explores everyday gifts and challenges through the antics of a variety of characters set in cartoons that animate the possibilities for a virtually limitless array of situations. Each two-page spread pairs a cartoon with a corresponding interpretation which may be regarded as an insightful oracle, motivational message, humorous aside or, as in most cartoons, all three at once.

Ask a question, flip to a page and see how the cartoon relates. Or just flip to a page and wonder what the question could have been. Select a cartoon on a daily basis, for a special occasion, or just keep the book in your office as a decoration until the perfect moment arrives.

For personal use or sharing with others, Now What? is designed for quick reference or as part of an ongoing creative practice through which one's inner oracle makes itself known. A selection of excerpts taken from each interpretation, are accompanied by suggestions to creatively flesh out your own wisdom and insights on any topic. A nice addition to anyone's treasure trove of meaningful little books.

Time and the Mystic's Moksha Meter
second in the Gold Lamè Series

C. Pic Michel

When 15-year-old Ardin follows an old woman off the city bus and disappears on the backstreets of downtown Cincinnati, her foster mom, Karen Bradford, involves her daughter Amelia, former cop Miguel Alvarez, and eight-year-old Jojo Jenkins in a race to find the girl that turns into a twenty-four-hour adventure.

As Karen attempts to commandeer the search and rescue, forces that are far more powerful than everyday waking life are implemented by others to both hide and seek Ardin. All but Karen are frequent visitors to the Wait Zone, a multidimensional plane where the Heavenly Kingdom is a neighborhood right next door to the Karmic Realm, and nighttime dreamers pick up ceu's in dreaming, surfing between dimensions, and helping the dearly departed cross over. Unfortunately for Amelia, Miguel and Jojo, etheric guide Hrim and the guru Tetta, who are usually available for consult seem to have gone missing at the worst possible time.

One thing is certain Ardin didn't run away, was nabbed at just about the same time that Max, a Christian martyr from 2nd century Greece, found out the Moksha Meter that registers the cumulative life achievements he shares with a divine Hindu sage, a 16th century court jester, and an off-Broadway director, is tanking right along with the world economy. While the Roman god Pluto, and his sidekick, Emperor Decius, complicate matters by multiplying fear and greed to undermine the most ancient feminist objective ever established, the question begs to be answered: who has the moksha to win this round?

In the spirit of the melting pot in which ancient stories are boiled down and redefined, author C. Pic Michel's second novel combines legends from Eastern and Western mystical traditions with lore on time, reincarnation, and the values that run our current culture, to keep you smiling, second guessing, and learning stuff you didn't think would fit together like that.
